PROFESSIONAL TEACHING STANDARDS
Individuals serving in this capacity are expected to adhere to the Knowledge and Performance indicators of the adopted Professional Teaching Standards for Burbank School District 111, and the Illinois Performance Standards for School Leaders.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the principal in evaluating lesson plans, observing classes, and developing and implementing instructional strategies to achieve the curriculum goals of the school district.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the school improvement plan.
- Assist in scheduling for the implementation of an educational program that makes optimum use of facilities and staff.
- Participate in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of instructional programs and materials.
- Identify resources and materials that will support instructional quality and integrate them into program practices.
- Assist with the supervision and evaluation of faculty and support personnel.
- Maintain effective communications with and serve as liaison to parents, civic and community groups.
- Respond to parents, students and staff concerns in a sensitive and timely manner.
- Assist in daily operations and provide long-term visioning to ensure student-centered, effective, and efficient practices
- Contribute to the development of a positive school climate.
- Perform other appropriate administrative and supervisory duties as assigned by the building principal.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Curriculum development and program evaluation, child growth and development, effective instructional
strategies that engage all students, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning
- Deep knowledge of reading, writing, literacy development, and/or math
- Educational trends and research findings pertaining to educational programming
- A variety of assessment tools
- Design and deliver quality professional development for administrators and teachers
- Support teachers in development of differentiated lessons
- Demonstrate excellent leadership and organizational skills and the ability to motivate people
- Assist teachers, in a collaborative model of observation, conversation, and lesson demonstration, to analyze and reflect on their practice to promote quality instructional practices
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum four year’s successful teaching
- Illinois Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with Proper Endorsement
- Must possess good organizational skills and be able to communicate effectively with students, parents and staff
Knowledge of:
- Principles, theories, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to researched-based instructional strategies that engage all students.
- Educational curriculum and instructional goals and objectives for reading, writing, literacy development, and math, and the educational trends and research findings pertaining to learning assessment and diagnosis
- Behavior management and behavior shaping strategies, techniques and methods, and conflict resolution procedures
Ability to:
- Design and deliver quality professional development for administrators and teachers
- Support teachers in development of differentiated lessons
- Demonstrate excellent leadership and organizational skills and the ability to motivate people.
- Assist teachers, in a collaborative model of observation, conversation, and lesson demonstration, to analyze and reflect on their practice to promote quality instructional practices.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside. The employee is responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of students and teachers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be noisy, active and busy at times.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and may be required to lift and/or push up to 50 lb. The employee is required to use close vision, distance vision, and depth perception and be able to hear conversations in quiet environments.
Mental/Motor Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely performs routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). Guidance and reinforcement are infrequently available. The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity. The employee is frequently involved in social interactions which require excellent oral and written communications.

Terms of Employment:
200 days yearly, salary commensurate with education and experience based on district placement formula
